Tribal Necklace with Large Coins - Baloch Vintage Coin Necklace

Vintage Balochi jewel coin necklace, wrapped with red and blue glass seed beads.  The coin necklace has been around since the development of coins as a monetary exchange - an easy and portable way to carry your wealth.  This one is made from matching coins and embellished with red and green jewels and a seed bead-wrapped cord.  A perfect and lovely way to adorn your neck for performance or everyday wear.  

The Baloch or Baluch are a semi-nomadic people who live mainly in the Balochistan region encompassing the countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and a few other areas.  Balochi women wear an assortment of nose-rings, earrings, rings on fingers and toes, necklaces, bracelets, and ornaments in the hair. Jewelry is typically made from gold, silver, or less desirable metals, depending on one's means.
