Vintage pair of Waziri earrings with long bell dangles. These would also make nice pendants. About 5.5 inches total length and 1-7/8 inches wide. Pretty glass/plastic jewels in traditional colors. This type of earring usually cannot be worn in regular western piercings unless you have stretched your piercings. These are tribally used pieces. If you will be wearing these in piercings without the protection of tunnels, please make sure the wires are clean before wearing.
Waziristan is a region in Pakistan bounded by Afghanistan to the northwest and the Kashmir region to the northeast. The Waziri people are not a "fictional African tribe" as some have suggested, but are a Pashtun tribe who have inhabited the Waziristan region from time immemorial. Today the area is named "Khyber Pakhtunkhwa". Regardless of name, the tribal peoples of this area still live a traditional lifestyle and govern themselves to a great extent. The border with Afghanistan is porous here, and people travel from one country to the other relatively freely.
