Vintage Hoop Earrings - Large Kashmiri Hoops with Jewels - Belly Dance

Vintage pair of extra large Kashmiri hoop earrings.  Big hoops are detailed with wire work, small jewels and a "bubble" design.  Originally used on headpieces or connected by a cord draped over the head so they hang near the temples.  Wear through stretched piercings or tunnels or add them to your own costume headpiece.  Wires are much larger than western ear wires, so cannot be worn through most western piercings.  They can work through stretched piercings and/or with tunnels. These make excellent upper arm bands!

Kashmiri jewelry is often large and showy or may be smaller if worn in addition to other pieces.  The mountainous regions of far northeastern Afghanistan, northern Pakistan, Kashmir and northern India are a trove of jewelry designs.  Here many cultures overlap and jewelry styles intertwine and meld, becoming seemingly familiar and yet distinctly different.  Materials, techniques and ideas are borrowed, passed along and reworked into amazing pieces.
