Vintage Kuchi Square Pendant PAIR - Matched Tribal Pendants
Matching pair of vintage box pendants featuring jingling bell dangles and small jewels. These two pendants were most likely part of a box amulet necklace. Traditional box pendants are talismanic and worn for protection from evil influences. Add a bit of magic to your collection!
Vintage pair of Kuchi box pendants made in mixed metals with glass jewels and bell dangles. This pair is matching in design and were probably part of the same amulet necklace at one time. 3.25 inches long and 2.25 inches wide. Made in unpolished mixed metals, but the finish is still a bit shiny. These would look nice as side pendants on a large necklace.
Box pendants are not just flat pieces of metal, they have a bit of depth to them. Traditionally these boxes are talismanic, and historically contained prayers, protective sayings or holy verses which were inscribed on paper. The use of an inscription as a means to ward off evil spirits began with a belief in early times in the power of words as protection. These days they are frequently empty, but the design remains the same, and it is believed that the shape of the pendant alone is enough to protect the wearer.
