Large tribal headpiece in a typical Turkoman style. This headpiece from Central Asia has a new fabric backing and a bit of decorative beading across the top edge.
Traditionally these are worn at the front of a hat with the dangles draping over the forehead, and it most certainly could still be worn in that fashion. However many dancers attach these to costume belts which works perfectly as well. There are ties at each side of the band, but will need additional attachment to secure to costuming. The Turkoman are an ethnic group native to Central Asia, primarily the Turkmen nation state of Turkmenistan.
