Vintage Tribal Pendant - Nepal Round Pendant - Nepalese Etched
Iron pendant from Nepal. This vintage round pendant features etched design and has a ring at the top for adding to jewelry or costuming. Unusual and different!
Vintage Nepalese mixed iron pendant with deeply etched design. When I purchased these tribal pendants, I was told these were made of iron, but believe they may be iron mixed with other metals. They are not super heavy, although they do have a bit of weight. These are very different than other pieces I have seen from Nepal and I was quite intrigued by them. They would make lovely belt adornments.
Nepal is the crossroads of many cultures. Parts of northern Nepal were intertwined with the culture of Tibet. The centrally located Kathmandu Valley is intertwined with the culture of Indo-Aryans. The Himalayan branch of the ancient Silk Road was dominated by the valley's traders. This cosmopolitan region developed distinct traditional art and architecture. Even though Nepal is geographically rather small, there are over 40 different tribal peoples living there.
