Vintage Moroccan hamsa pendant. Flat pendant is cut from sheet metal and etched with a design reminiscent of henna designs. Great focal pendant for a beaded necklace or for embellishment on a dance costume. The hamsa (Arabic " khamsa "), or Hand of Fatima, is a well-known amulet throughout North Africa and the Middle East. The hamsa is a sign of protection that also represents blessings, power and strength, and is seen as potent in deflecting the evil eye. The hamsa can be worn with the fingers pointing either up or down; both are believed to offer its owner happiness, peace, and prosperity, as well as protection. What better way to keep that pesky evil eye at bay!
