Vintage pair of Kuchi square pendants featuring colorful jewels and bell dangles. Matching in design. These were probably part of a necklace at one time. Center ‘pink’ insets are a plastic or other composite. These would look nice as side pendants on a dance belt. A bit of history: traditionally square pendants were not just flat pieces of metal, they had a bit of depth to them. These boxes were considered talismanic, and contained prayers, protective sayings or holy verses which were inscribed on paper. These days they are frequently empty or are just a piece of flat metal, but the design remains the same, and it is believed that the shape of the pendant alone is enough to protect the wearer.
