Turkoman Tribal Tassels PAIR - Vintage Silk / Cotton Tribal Tassels
Matched pair of beautiful Turkoman silk/cotton tassels. White beading at the ends of the fringes and thread-wrapped tassel strands. Each tassel divides into four strands and thre is a loop at the top for attaching. Glorious faded colors and a very soft feel to these silk beauties.
Pair of vintage handmade Turkoman tribal tassels. Small white glass beads at the ends of most of the fringes and knotwork, and thread wrapping around the tassels' main cords. Loops at the tops for attaching. The loops are worn and most of the thread wrapping has come off, but they are still functional. Colors are faded and tend toward the warmer shades now (reds, yellows, warm browns, some reddish purple), but may once have included blues and greens no longer in evidence. These tassels are old and worn with soft colors and a nice weight and feel to them. They would look stunning used as a home decor accent.
The Turkoman people use tassels in their homes, on their clothing/accessories and on their animals. Traditionally they are used to distract the evil eye and keep evil spirits from focusing on the human or animals that are wearing them. Turkoman tassels add a lot of color to your hair garden, costume or other belly dance accessories. Plus they help to keep those evil spirits at bay!
