Turkoman Vintage Tassel SINGLE - Silk / Cotton Tribal Tribal Tassel

White beads above the bottom small tassels are only the beginning of the details on this unusual old piece.  There is a really nice grouping of hollow dangles on the metal piece at the top that makes a wonderful jingle.  Thetassel strands are thread-wrapped with what looks like very old metallic thread and some colorful thread as well.  Large loop at the top for attaching.  Colors are all mostly faded, but you can still see black, orange, purple and red.  Several of the small tassels at the very bottom of the strands are odd little clumps now.  This is a wonderful piece if you like old, worn, tribal silk tassels. They just feel so good in your hands. 

The Turkoman people use tassels in their homes, on their clothing/accessories and on their animals.  Traditionally they are used to distract the evil eye and keep evil spirits from focusing on the human or animals that are wearing them.  Turkoman tassels add a lot of color to your hair garden, costume or other belly dance accessories.  Plus they help to keep those evil spirits at bay!
