Vintage pair of mixed metal earrings from Morocco. Detailed with large red glass jewels and filigree type dangles, these earrings probably had brightly colored enamel the design, but now are a simple silver color. Large enough to show well on stage. Berber, or Amazigh, jewelry is large, showy and FUN, often including lots of detail like large jewels and coins or filigree beads or dangles. It represents much more than simply adornment. Each piece can signify wealth, social and marital status. The Berbers or Imazighen (‘Free people’; plural of Amazigh) are the original inhabitants of North Africa.
