New extra large hoop style earrings with spiral wire work details. These earrings are a larger gauge ear wire and will not fit through modern, western piercings. Ear wires themselves are from about a 10 to 8 gauge, but the curled ends are a bit larger. These earrings are flat metal so are not terribly heavy. These could be worn though tunnels or who have stretched their piercings. You also may be able to attach modern wires to them to wear through western piercings. Better yet, add them to a headpiece at the ear level. These new pieces are made from a silver alloy by tribal craftsmen in China.
The Karen Hill tribal is an ethnic group belonging to South China. It is the largest ethnic minority group, with a large population. The Hill Tribe people originated in Tibet, moving south to Myanmar and northern Thailand. Today, the Karen hill tribe live in areas alongside the Thai-Myanmar border and some in central Thailand. Karen villages are scattered across the countryside of south China and northern Thailand. Many traditional villages can still be found in remote areas of Thailand. Interestingly, the Karen are also the only tribe in Thailand to own and work with elephants.
