Kuchi coin belts for belly dance are made by stringing coins and spacer beads on black cord, similar to shoelace cord. There is a bit of red and white beading along the top edge. These belts can be worn as they are, layered with other pieces or sewn to a bra or belt for added detail. Kuchi means "nomad" in the Afghan Dari language. Today, only a small number of Kuchis still follow their traditional livelihood of nomadic herding.
