Vintage Banjara bracelet with large clumps of small bells wired together, called gajre balls. Vintage Banjara “gajre ball” bracelet has five clusters of small bells. These small bells are wired together to almost create a ball-shape that is in turn wired to the bracelet band itself. Because these bells are not soldered in place, there is some movement to them. This bracelets clusters move a bit more than most, and this creates a soft jingle. The small bells that make up the gajre balls are traditionally made of silver or mixed metals and are solid, threaded on a silver wire, than then attached to the bracelet. On some types of Indian bracelets, the gajre balls are simulated instead of made up of many small pieces and are made of stamped sheet silver.
