Vintage embroidered textile pouch from northern India. This large pouch or packet-type fabric envelope has red and yellow emboridery on a blue-gray fabric background with decorative shells and poms. The embroidery, shells and poms are in good condition, as is this piece overall. Minimal fading of embroidery and fabric. Several layers of fabric are quilted together to make a large flat piece of fabric, then three corners of this single piece are brought to the middle and sewn into an envelope shape with the last corner left open. This old piece is in great condition. String loop for closure, but there is no button or other fastener.
